POSTED 6/17/05: Jef Mallett, whose Frazz strip was nominated for strip of the year, attended with his wife, Patty (not pictured). This is the Saturday night lead-up to the 59th Annual NCS Reuben Awards Banquet. Seen in the background are Richard Newcombe and Melissa Lin of Creators Syndicate.

POSTED 6/16/05: Mary Anne Case and Bill Janocha, both of the Connecticut chapter. Mary Anne is known for her strip, "Memory Lane," and Bill is part of Mort Walker's crew. They are in the meeting room where Jay Stephens will soon be giving his talk about how he brought his creation, "Tutenstein," to the small screen.

POSTED 6/15/05: Sunday: Roy Doty ventured out into the Arizona desert to knock some golf balls around with Mort Walker and crew and -- look! -- it was so hot his hand melted off! Fortunately, it wasn't his drawing hand. Frank Pauer looks on, hoping that Roy won't drip on him.

Bonus photo: Here's what the Fairmont Princess looks like. Nice, innit?

POSTED 6/14/05: Here we find a gathering of GLC characters on the big patio area of the Fairmont Princess resort. You can tell it's Arizona, 'cause there are those green plants with the pointy things on them. Pictured are Julie and Steve Boreman, who came out a week early to do some camping in the Grand Canyon; Jerry Dowling, Daryll Collins and Craig Boldman. I'm guessing it's Marilyn Collins who's taking the picture. This was probably Friday, May 27, our first full day there.
