Celebrates National Cartoonists Day
May 5, 2007(PITTSBURGH) April 23, 2007 Join one of the nation's biggest celebrations of National Cartoonists Day at the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh on May 5, 2007, from 11:30 am 4:30 pm, for a wide variety of cartooning activities. This event is presented in conjunction with WOS Studios, one of the Museum's five on-site partners.
A host of professional cartoonists will be on hand to draw cartoons, give advice to budding young artists and sign autographs, including:
* Don Peoples - Political cartoonist and freelance illustrator
* Earl Musick - Freelance illustrator with clients such as Walt Disney Company, U. S. Postal Service and "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books
* Terri Libenson Creator of the nationally syndicated comic strip "Pajama Diaries" and greeting card illustrator
* Jenny Campbell - Creator of the nationally-syndicated comic strip "Flo and Friends" and children's book illustrator
* Michael Corle - Freelance cartoonist, animator and caricature artist
* Joe Wos - Freelance cartoonist and children's performer (Once Upon a ToonÒ)
Cartooning activities include:
* Have your caricature drawn
* Create a trading card and super hero from your own photo with the Allegheny County Library Association
* Cartooning workshops
* Quick Draw demonstrations by our featured cartoonists
* Manga (Japanese comic) drawing demonstrations
* Performances by Joe Wos of Once Upon a ToonÒ
* See original anime and cartoon artwork in the exhibit Jump to Japan
* Prize giveaways throughout the day
Visitors can also receive a free comic book as part of Free Comic Book Day, while supplies last. This event is free with Musuem admission.
Children's Museum of Pittsburgh is open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am 5:00 pm., Sunday, noon 5:00 pm. Admission is $8 for children 2-18 and seniors, $9 for adults.
